Parents and Friends Association (PFA)

Our Parents and Friends Association (PFA) is formed of a group of parents and staff who are dedicated to supporting children during their time at St. Cuthbert’s. Granted charitable status in 2009 and Gift Aid status in 2016, the committee has two roles:

  1. To provide a social framework and service for parents.

  2. To raise funds for school projects to benefit the pupils.

Fundraising

Although fund-raising projects vary from year to year, the PFA Committee hosts a number of fairs, cake sales, film nights, discos, and BBQs. Not only do these events help raise money for the pupils, but they also offer the opportunity for parents to meet socially, while planning and attending each event. The PFA raised an amazing £1,800 at their Christmas fair and a similar amount at their annual summer fete. The children are so lucky to have such an active PFA.

The committee help in other areas too, serving drinks and snacks at parent evenings, taking tickets at Christmas productions, and hosting annual Easter raffles. In the last year the PFA has helped by purchasing reading books for KS2 children to enjoy at home, paid for Cumbria Music HUB to deliver music throughout KS2 and also paid for Cornerstones, Curriculum Maestro.

Every Friday in the hotter months the PFA sell ice creams after school. In the cooler months they sell hot chocolate.

Seasonal Fairs

Throughout the year, PFA organise and support our seasonal fairs. These include a Christmas, Summer, and Easter fairs where they give each child a selection box or Easter egg.

Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling Day

More recently, they have funded a Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling day with Anchor Education.

Windermere Jetty Opening Day

Children were involved in projects at the Windermere Jetty  Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories and sang at the opening of the museum attended King Charles iii.

Join the team

The PFA Committee is always ready to welcome new parents. We appreciate that not everybody has the time to join a committee and attend meetings, which is why we welcome non-committee parents to join us for individual events. Just get in touch with Miss Rawlinson in the office and let us know where you would like to lend your time.
