October 2022:

We are winners!!!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

We are officially the BEST PRIMARY SCHOOL in Cumbria.

Thank you to the Golden Apple Awards for a wonderful presentation evening at Energus, Workington.

We are very proud to be part of the Mater Christi Multi-Academy Trust.

The Mater Christi Multi-Academy Trust was founded in September 2021, bringing together eight Catholic schools of the Diocese of Lancaster as founder members. In uniting and forming the Mater Christi MAT, Governors and Trustees are seeking to join together as a Catholic family of schools, preserving what is best in each and offering support for all, as we strive to live out our mission as Catholic schools dedicated to serving our communities, providing them with an education for their children of which they can be proud.

Here at St Cuthbert’s, we work together to make our school and community a welcoming and happy place to learn. We are a relatively small school, supporting children living in the parish of Our Lady of Windermere, St. Herbert’s, Mater Amabilis Ambleside, and beyond.

As a family that values the uniqueness of every child, we treat one another with respect.

We aim to create a community where children can grow and develop, both academically and as people.

We are a school for Catholic and non-Catholic children, welcoming all faiths and denominations. We believe that faith is “lived” and not just taught, a belief reinforced by our parish Priest, Father Ajish, who leads and guides us.

Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and balanced and is delivered by an experienced staff to a high level.

As well as gaining language, mathematical and scientific skills your child will build confidence, self-reliance and develop the ability to articulate feelings and ideas.

Our mission is to help one another.
This is what we do with all our hearts
— Children of St Cuthbert's

We give our children regular opportunity to consider our school mission statement.

every year we ask the children if they were happy with out mission statement and they all wanted to keep it; they felt it summarised our school and loving community perfectly.

We really are one happy family at St. Cuthbert’s and we always help one another, as we would our own family.

Pupils trust adults to help them with their learning and to listen to their worries.
They repay staff’s care and kindness by following the high expectations that are set for their behaviour.
This makes St Cuthbert’s a calm and pleasant place to be each and every day...
Leaders want pupils to succeed academically

The rich curriculum provides pupils with a wide range of learning activities, including visits that greatly broaden pupils’ experiences and promote good progress and personal development.

Previous Ofsted Inspections noted that:

“Pupils are respectful and considerate of one another. They enjoy school and feel safe and are cared for well. Pupils’ behaviour in lessons and around the school is good. They show good attitudes to learning and have opportunities to take on responsibilities.”

We’re so proud of all our pupils and the hard work they put into their education, along with the staff that deliver a safe and nurturing environment.

If you’d like to discuss your child’s education, you’re more than welcome to meet with either their Class Teacher or the Head Teacher, Lucy Bone.

Please ring ahead of time to make sure someone is available to talk to you.

Ofsted visited us again in February and May 2023 and also in November 2023…

Inspectors noted that ‘Pupils genuinely enjoy belonging to this small, nurturing and cohesive school. They appreciate its diverse population. They delight in finding out about the different cultures and traditions of those pupils who come from other countries. Pupils work and play together in harmony. Disagreements are rare. If hurtful name-calling or bullying should occur, leaders deal with it well. Pupils feel safe…’
